So we suck at keeping in touch. We’ll do better this year, we promise.
But overlooked in the post-reunion shuffle and the holidays madness was the very important news that you guys elected a new Alumni Board for 2012-13. This election saw one of the highest turnouts ever — a stunning five ballots returned. Clearly our dictatorial political process is strong.
In any case, much of the regular cast of characters is back for yet another tour of duty: Chairman Dan Johnson (Spring ’74), Secretary Jim Scanlon (Spring ’02) and Director-At-Large Charlie Munn (Fall ’74) were all conned into another two years of servitude.
But in a stunning turn of events, we dragged some new blood into the fold! (Well, not really “new” per se — these guys are both retreads from our original Alumni Board 13 years ago!) So please join us in welcoming (back) Treasurer Mike Beam (Winter ’85) and Director-At-Large Jim Daniel (Fall ’84) — as they say, misery loves company.
You can view the full Board roster, including committee members and other volunteers, at our Board Of Directors page.
Don’t remember how our Alumni Board operates and is elected? Want to join a committee, offer opinions on our next conference call, or otherwise get involved? See the Board Of Directors page for the scoop.

The weekend came and went in a blur, and the 40-70-100 Reunion is in the history books. The final headcount: over 180 brothers, pledges, little sisters, wives, girlfriends and children, plus a few more unannounced appearances who we still have to send Cousin Vinnie to collect money from.
For those of you who joined us, THANK YOU! It was great seeing all of you and we hope you had as much fun as we did.
For those who missed out… we’re sorry we missed you, and hope you’ll catch us for another tailgate this fall.
If you took PHOTOS at the Reunion, we kindly ask that you upload them to our private Facebook Group’s Reunion Photo Gallery! You’ll see several folks have already shared their pics with the masses…

Dick Quible (Fall '51) 1928-2009
With deepest regrets we are sorry to announce that F. Richard (Dick) Quible passed away in November.
Dick was an ardent supporter of the University, VT Athletics, and yes his beloved fraternity Delta Kappa Sigma. Included in his obituary among his many accomplishments and associations it was proudly stated that “… Dick was a member of Delta Kappa Sigma, now Delta Kappa Epsilon, serving as the fraternity’s president his senior year.”
Many Dekes had the opportunity to meet and speak with Dick over the years and he was always generous with his time to talk about the history of the fraternity. Dick was also a regular financial supporter of the fraternity alumni association and a member to the 10-YEAR-CLUB. His presence will be missed by those who knew him. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family.

Many thanks to our outgoing elected board members Jim Scanlon (Winter ’76) and Jim Daniel (Fall ’84) – we appreciate all the time you’ve given and are grateful to have you sticking around as board committee members when time allows.

After a successful first tailgate for the Marshall game, which attracted about 20 alumni brothers (plus the entire active chapter and a flock of prospective Dekes), we’re looking forward to a larger showing this weekend for what could be the biggest home game of the year.
Bob Dreelin and Buzz Wainman graciously volunteered to be our alumni organizers for this week – come join them and others! Kickoff is at 3:30 pm, so we’ll start at 11:00am.
As always, our location is Lot 4, Space 94, located across Spring Drive from the football stadium and just down from the softball field. We’re in the corner, with one side facing Southgate Drive and the other side backing up to the track. See you there.
