THE PLAN FOR SATURDAY

So for the last two months we've been planning for an afternoon football game. All was going well. And then...

It'll be a night game!

Virginia Tech announced the kickoff time for the #11 vs #13 matchup with Clemson: 6:00pm. A night game!

As fun as this game is going to be, it required some quick thinking on our part to reshuffle the schedule for Saturday. So accordingly, here's the plan:

• 11am: Open House Reception begins at the DKE House!
• 12:00pm: Light catered lunch at the DKE House (see menu below)
• 1:30pm: DKE House event ends; head to stadium (bus ride option for bus ticket holders)
• 2pm: Alumni Reunion Tailgate begins in the shadow of Lane Stadium: Lot 4, Space 94
• 4pm: Catered dinner service begins at the tailgate (see menu below)
• 5:30pm: Tailgate event ends; head into stadium for the game!

Appropriate dress for Saturday is... maroon and orange. Need we say more?

BUS SERVICE FROM THE HOTEL ROANOKE

It's not too late to snag a bus ticket (round-trip service between the Hotel Roanoke and Blacksburg, with connecting service to Lane Stadium)... just go to our Upgrade Registration page and buy a ticket. $35 per person. First-come, first-serve until it sells out.

For those of you who already have your bus tickets, here's the schedule:

• 10:00am SHARP: Bus departs Hotel Roanoke for DKE House in Blacksburg.
• 1:30pm: Bus leaves DKE House to drop people off at Lane Stadium
• Immediately following game: Bus departs from Lane Stadium for return trip to Hotel Roanoke.

We will have more specific details about the bus service the day of the event.

FIRST STOP: OPEN HOUSE RECEPTION AT THE DKE HOUSE

Our day on Saturday will begin at 11:00am at the epicenter of all action in Blacksburg... our 100-year-old grand lady of a residence since 1968... the DKE House.

Newly renovated for the modern era

The actives have been hard at work for the last month getting the house ready to show off.

Join us for morning drinks, along with a light catered lunch, and spend some time getting reacquainted with our fraternity house, which has undergone quite a few changes since you probably last saw it.

Since 2004, we have completed the below projects to ensure our house can serve us for the next 70 years:

• Total attic renovation, adding three bedrooms, one full bath and a loft area
• 2nd floor renovation, adding a new attic staircase, removing the veranda/paddle room, opening up the hallway, adding light and spaciousness, and completely renovating the 2nd floor bathroom
• Kitchen renovation, replacing the floor and installing new cabinets and (donated) appliances
• 1st floor bathroom addition, adding a modern women's/guest bathroom with two stalls and a sink (removing the trough room and 2nd hallway
• Fence replacement
• Porch replacement with Trex decking and new support columns
• Roof replacement (with mock slate architectural shingles on the main roof and metal over the porch and carport)
• Fire suppression system installation to protect the house and its residents
• Basement improvements (ongoing) to improve the look in the legendary den of sin

Let the actives give you the grand tour of the upgraded facility, meet and mingle with brothers new and old, and catch some relaxation time on the veranda. We'll have yard games like cornhole going on in the backyard as well, for those of you who can't sit still.

The event will end at 1:30pm, at which time everyone will walk (or optionally ride the bus) to Lane Stadium, where we'll enjoy...

THE MAIN EVENT: THE REUNION TAILGATE AT LANE STADIUM

We've been tailgating in the shadow of Lane Stadium since 2008, thanks to the extremely kind generosity of Mickey Hayes who donates our parking spot (Lot 4, Space 94!) annually.

Rampant lion flying high

We started with a pickup truck and a few folding chairs, and over the years have gradually grown our operation to include some pop-up tents, catering service (less cooking and more drinking for us!), a cornhole set, and our favorite touch, a DKE Flag flying high over the parking lot.

But nothing compares to what we've got in store for this weekend, starting at 2pm...

With over 150 people currently registered for Saturday (and more signing up daily), it's going to be quite the party.

Accordingly, we've upgraded our facilities to include a 30'x40' tent, with some tables and chairs, so we can tailgate comfortably rain or shine. (But don't worry -- no rain in the forecast!)

Our caterer is ready to feed the whole crew with a menu including:

• Grilled chicken
• Hamburgers/cheeseburgers
• Chili
• Potato salad and coleslaw
• Chips
• Cookies

And naturally, this being a crowd of Dekes, we'll of course have a full open bar: beer, bourbon, vodka, mixers, etc.

The tailgate starts at 2pm. Food service will start around 4pm.

We'll wrap up by 5:30pm to get everyone into the stadium in plenty of time to take part in the Enter Sandman entrance!
