Where your donation goes
Any donations to Virginia Tech can be earmarked to Delta Kappa Epsilon and the tax-deductible donations are deposited into a separate DKE account after a 5% administrative fee is deducted by VT. VT will recognize your donation, and provide an acknowledgment and receipt of the donation. The net funds received by DKE under this process, are controlled by the VT-DKE Alumni Association and are used to support chapter/alumni activities. This includes social activities such as tailgates and reunions; as well as rental payments to the associated Housing Corporation, Sigma Alpha Properties LLC, which in turn are used to support DKE House upkeep and upgrades.
VT-DKE Annual Giving Fund
Each year we undertake an Annual Giving Fund to support the Fraternity and DKE House. In 2007 we instituted a larger Capital Campaign to support extensive renovations to the DKE House. This was a multi-year effort to raise over $200,000 to complete major renovations of the fraternity house. That goal was achieved along with increasing the debt on the property. We have continuous needs for the DKE House and our capital campaign efforts continue as part of the Annual VT-DKE Giving Fund.
Since 1999 when we ‘re-started the VT-DKE Alumni Association and set up the sister Sigma Alpha Properties LLC, Housing Corporation, we have received over $620,000 in donations from over 475 alumni. This is inclusive of the "voluntary annual dues" donations made by alumni, members, parents and friends of the the fraternity. We are very grateful to all of you. In 2006, we arranged for cash donations to be received as part of the Rampant Lion Foundation - Sigma Alpha Fund. This process was used until 2017. The RLF-SA Fund is now part of the DKE Foundation. This fund is used to support our scholarship awards, and hold several notes (second mortgages) on the DKE House property. In 2017 we shifted our fundraising efforts in partnership with the VT Foundation. This has been the process since that time and any donation to VT can be now earmarked to Delta Kappa Epsilon.
We would implore all of our alumni brothers to contribute to VT and DKE to support your University and Fraternity. As gift tiers reflect cumulative giving we ask those to be regular donors and support the ongoing efforts of the organization with a minimum $50 donation per year for dues. In recent years VT-DKE Alumni Association has instituted a ‘donor appreciation program’ to acknowledge all donors who donate $50 or more in a given year. This is in addition to our heartfelt thanks to all supporters which we endeavor to personally acknowledge to each donor.
